Culinary students at Farnborough College are appealing for sponsors as they are set to climb three mountains in three days to fund future cooking competitions.

The winners of this year's Heat contest, hosted on the Island of Jersey in March, will ascend the 3 biggest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland (Snowdon in Wales, which has an altitude of 1085m; Scafell Pike, in England, which has an elevation of 978m above sea level, and Ben Nevis, Scotland's tallest peak, at 1345m of altitude).

The students will walk 23 miles and ascend 3064 meters over the course of three days, camping at each location on the way and driving

roughly 460 miles between each.

The idea, explained Sean Patterson, hospitality and catering lecturer at Farnborough College, is to give students the opportunity to take part in a challenge, as well as to get funding for them to take part in culinary competitions around the country.

Amongst other things, the money will help the students pay for entries and training.

Sean Patterson said: "We want to get the students active and give them something to talk about when they go to interviews."

The college has set up a JustGiving page, to which you can donate here

The Staff Canteen will be hosting its fourth College Tour event at Farnborough on June 18th. A live stream will be broadcast on TSC's Facebook page. Stay tuned for more details!
