Marianne Lumb, a freelance Executive chef, is one of four chefs competing for the central region on Great British Menu 2023.

Series 18 of the competition starts on January 31 2023 on BBC Two at 8pm and will air for eight weeks.

Marianne is going head to head with chefs Tom ShepherdKareem Roberts, Thom Bateman in a bid to represent the Central region in the regional finals, and ultimately cook a dish at the final banquet.

This is Marianne's second time competing in Great British Menu.

Biography

Marianne was a finalist on MasterChef: The Professionals 2009 and classically trained at restaurants including Gravetye Manor before starting a career as a private chef.

In 2013, she opened the eponymous Marianne - a 14-cover restaurant in Notting Hill. In 2017, the restaurant was listed at no. 33 in The Good Food Guide 2018.

Marianne announced in August 2018 that she would be leaving the self-titled restaurant "for personal and professional reasons". She explained that her team would continue to run the restaurant and she was hoping to head to Asia to work with chef David Thompson.

Since then Marianne has worked as a freelance executive chef, continously creating a wide range of carefully crafted dishes for diners across the country.
