Hospitality Action: “Keep Out The Chill” Campaign

The Staff Canteen
Industry charity Hospitality Action is asking for donations this winter for its “Keep Out The Chill” campaign. If you happen to be someone who receives a government funded winter fuel grant of £200, but find yourself not in need of the money, Hospitality Action is asking for this gift to be donated to those who do. gas_flameThe funds raised will go towards supporting members of the hospitality industry who are currently working or retired and are struggling to keep warm over the coldest months. Research conducted by the national charity Turn2us has found that one in two low income households are struggling to afford their energy costs, with families being the hardest hit group among this demographic. Almost two-thirds of working parents (65%) are unable to meet their energy costs. If you were born on or before January 5 1953 the £200 ‘Winter Fuel Payment’ gifted by the Government may already be with you. Most payments are made automatically between November and December and funds should be with recipients by Christmas. If you are fortunate enough not to need this extra funding, the £200 donation to Hospitality Action will ensure two more households are able to afford basic heating this winter.

Vic Laws, MBE, FIH, FCSI of AVL Consultancy Limited says: “Last winter Hospitality Action granted nearly £22,000 to help with the payment of energy bills via its Winter Fuel Grant initiative. As the weather worsens many hospitality employees and those retired from our industry will be struggling once again. Hospitality Action wants to alleviate the financial stress they face so if you are able to make a Winter Fuel Payment donation to the charity, like I have, please do.” To make this donation, which can be gift aided click here.
