Roundhouse has appointed Joey Ingram as Executive Chef, with the experienced chef taking over the culinary direction of Crystalbrook Kingsley's signature restaurant in Newcastle.
The appointment brings a chef with 24 years of industry experience to the Newcastle venue, following a career that has spanned some of Sydney's best-known restaurants, Michelin-starred kitchens in Paris and hatted dining in the Hunter Valley.
A career across leading kitchens
Joey's early training included roles at Tetsuya's, Restaurant Balzac, Claude's and Pier.
His experience also includes time in Michelin-starred kitchens in Paris, adding international experience to a career built across a range of hospitality environments.
Across those kitchens, Joey developed experience in fine dining, premium produce and high-level service before moving into senior leadership roles.
Four years at Margan
Joey later joined Margan Restaurant in the Hunter Valley, where he led the kitchen for four years.
During that time, the restaurant retained its chef's hat, further strengthening its reputation within the region's dining scene.
The role also established strong connections with the area's growers, producers and winemakers, many of whom continue to shape the Hunter's food culture today.
Building Iron Gate Kitchen
Following Margan, Joey became the chef behind Iron Gate Kitchen.
The role extended beyond running a kitchen. Joey was responsible for developing the menu, creating the wine list, building the team and helping establish the venue from the ground up.
Opening a restaurant requires a different set of skills to leading an established operation, with recruitment, planning and venue development all playing a significant role.
The move to Roundhouse
Joey now joins Roundhouse as Executive Chef, taking responsibility for the culinary direction of the restaurant as it enters its next phase.
Located within Crystalbrook Kingsley, Roundhouse has become a well-known dining destination in Newcastle, with a focus on Australian produce and contemporary cooking.
The appointment adds another chapter to Joey's career, bringing experience from Sydney fine dining, Michelin-starred kitchens, hatted regional dining and restaurant openings to one of Newcastle's leading restaurant kitchens.
