Matt Worswick replaces Michael Wignall at The Latymer

Pennyhill Park, an Exclusive Hotel & Spa in Bagshot, Surrey, has announced Matt Worswick as the new Head Chef of its award-winning restaurant, The Latymer. The LatymerMatt joins Pennyhill Park from Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa in the Wirral where he has held the position of Executive Chef for the last 18 months. Matt said: ‘’Pennyhill Park has a formidable reputation and I am very excited about joining The Latymer as head chef. It’s a great privilege to have this opportunity with a platform to really showcase my food in such superb surroundings.’’ At 28 years of age, Liverpool-born Matt has already enjoyed a stellar career including winning a Michelin-star at Glenapp Castle in Ayrshire at just 26 years old as well as working with David Everitt-Matthias at the 2 Michelin-star Le Champignon Sauvage in Gloucestershire. Matt began his chef career at The Crofters Hotel in Lancashire before moving to the Michelin-star St. Martins-on-the-Isle on The Isles of Scilly, working with Kenny Atkinson where he achieved a Michelin Rising Star award in 2007.  He has since gone on to secure his place as a semi-finalist on BBC MasterChef: The Professionals in 2010 and most recently a regional finalist representing the North West in BBC2’s Great British Menu 2015.Michael Wignall Julian Tomlin, General Manager at Pennyhill Park added: “I am thrilled to welcome Matthew Worswick to The Latymer, a restaurant which has earned its reputation for delivering exceptional food.  I am very much looking forward to Matt bringing his creative energy and clear culinary vision to the team and developing an exciting new food offering to maintain the restaurant’s position as one of the finest in the UK.” Matt will commence his role at The Latymer on 01 March 2016.
