Michael O'Hare, whose restaurant The Man Behind the Curtain in Leeds has a star in the Michelin Guide UK, believes his new Manchester based restaurant, The Man Who Fell to Earth, will be at a two Michelin star standard.

According to the Manchester Evening News the Michael made the comments whilst speaking with GG Hospitality founder, Gary Neville, at the Northern Restaurant and Bar show.

Michael said: "I'd say that with the restaurants in Manchester, in particular The Man Who Fell To Earth, I'm looking to be at a two-Michelin star standard – even if I haven't got a single Michelin star in there."

He further added that with his years of experience cooking and eating out in other restaurants he knows when a restaurant is up to Michelin standard or not.

He said: "It could be seen as arrogance, but it's a sense of self worth. I've been to other restaurants where I've thought, 'they're so far above me.' And I've been to restaurants where I've thought, 'I'm better than them.'

"If you just go to be the best you possibly can be, or the best your team can be, then you know yourself that you're at that standard."

The Michelin-starred chef who took part in BBC2's Great British Menu in 2015 was appointed creative director of GG Hospitality last year by former Manchester United stars Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs. The trio are currently  working on three restaurants together, The Man Who Fell To Earth and Are Friends Electric will both open at The Manchester Stock Exchange, whilst The Rabbit In The Moon, opened in the National Football Museum in January.

Yesterday both Gary and Michael were named in the Northern Restaurant and Bar (NRB) Top 50 2017 awards.
