Tom Kerridge, whose Marlow pub, The Hand and Flowers has two stars in the Michelin Guide UK, is to open a new restaurant at Jumeirah Carlton Tower next year.

Located off Sloane Street, The Rib Room Bar and Restaurant will close early in 2017 for a complete renovation and will re-open as a stand-alone restaurant under the creative leadership of Tom and his team.

This will be Kerridge’s first foray in London and marks a new era for the restaurant which has been a dining destination since it first opened in 1961.

Tom Kerridge said: “We are thrilled and honoured to be opening in London at this landmark location in Knightsbridge and we will be revealing more details on our plans early next year.”

Speaking to the Evening Standard Tom said he wants to bring back the swinging sixties to Knightsbridge with his new restaurant.

He told the publication: "The idea of coming to London is something we have been toying with for ages.

“When the opportunity presented itself within the Carlton Tower… everything I’ve done has to have some kind of history and heritage to it.

“It opened in the Swinging Sixties when Knightsbridge was synonymous with double-decker buses, Minis, and that idea that we became very awake, to art, to food, to music. When you think of Knightsbridge in the Sixties, that’s something we’re desperate to bring back.”

The hotel’s General Manager and Jumeirah’s Regional Vice President for Europe, Katie Benson said: “Tom is one of the country’s top culinary talents and we are delighted to be working with him and his team to create London’s most exciting new restaurant next year.”
