Michelin starred chefs Angela Hartnett, Nathan Outlaw and Simon Rogan are among a host of famous names appearing at Action Against Hunger’s annual Fine Wine Auction and Dinner next weekend. At the event, which takes place Saturday, November 15 at the London restaurant 1 Lombard Street, the chefs, along with food writer and chef Gizzi Erskine, will be cooking a four-course meal for guests. Gizzi will be cooking a starter of salmon sashimi with kombu ponzu and popped rice; Nathan will be doing mini fish pie; Simon will be providing a main of Cumbrian beef smoked over hot coals with beetroot, shallot and king oysters, and finishing the meal will be Angela Hartnett’s dessert of hazelnut choux bun with chocolate sauce. Gizzi Simon said: “As a chef, food is extremely important to me, and so I’m thrilled to be able to participate in Action Against Hunger’s Fine Wine Auction this year. We’ll be raising vital funds to help families and communities gain access to nutritional treatment and safe, clean water.” Before the meal will be a Champagne Taittinger reception and canapés, served courtesy of The Pig, Cheese Cellar, and the Wright Brothers. Wines from Allegrini, Tolpuddle Vineyard, Château de Santenay and Pieropan will be complimenting the food. Along with this, Stephen Mould, Head of the European Wine Department at Sotheby’s, will be hosting a live auction featuring an exclusive array of fine and rare wines, such as a case of Château Latour 1995, with all proceeds going towards Action Against Hunger’s work worldwide. Other prizes include a dinner party for 12 prepared in the winner’s home by Michelin-starred chef Giorgio Locatelli. Hosting the evening will be award-winning BBC presenter Nigel Barden. All proceeds will be going towards Action Against Hunger, an international humanitarian organisation committed to ending child hunger. Robin Hutson, co-founder of the event said: “This year looks set to be another fantastic evening, great food and wine, great auction lots and let’s hope very loose bidding hands to raise a record sum.” The Action Against Hunger Fine Wine Auction and Dinner is on Saturday, November 15 at 1 Lombard Street in the City of London.
