Michelin-starred Locanda Locatelli closes its doors

Michelin-starred Locanda Locatelli has closed its doors, after more than 20 years of operation.

The popular London restaurant was run by Giorgio Locatelli, and his wife Plaxy, having opened in February 2002.

Located in the Hyatt Regency Hotel The Churchill, Locanda Locatelli offered classic Italian dishes, with emphasis on fresh pasta and breads.

The restaurant first earned a Michelin star in 2003, retaining it ever since.

Giorgio did consider closing Locanda Locatelli in 2014, after a gas explosion damaged the building and injured some staff members.

But he decided to continue, going on to serve

customers for another decade.

But the restaurant has now announced: “With a heavy heart, for reasons out of our control, we are now permanently closed.

“We will miss all of our clients, many of who have become friends.

“But when one door closes, another opens, so please check our social media for updates on our new project.

“We wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2025 and thank you for all your custom over the last 23 years.”

Italian chef Giorgio has featured on TV on various occasions over the years, including as a judge on MasterChef Italia and E4’s Celeb Cooking School.
