Mövenpick announces five finalists

Mövenpick has announced the five finalists of its annual Gourmet Dessert Chef of the Year competition following a rigorous judging process. A thrilling live cook-off at the new Good Housekeeping Institute in Soho will take place on 3rd June, 2015 where the winner will be crowned.will torrent 2014 runners up Biju Joshwa (London Marriot Country Hall Hotel) and Zac Dearden (The Woolly Sheep Inn, Skipton) will join Jonathon Los (Bishopstrow Hotel and Spa), Heather Gibson (Hilton Glasgow) and Hannah Ward (Whisk and Spoon Catering). This year, professional chefs were challenged to create a classic ice cream sundae with a contemporary twist. Head judge and award-winning pastry chef, Will Torrent, closely assessed each entry, along with fellow judges Joe Lutrario (Restaurant Magazine), Sheila Eggleston (Cost Sector Catering Magazine), Helen Wainwright (Good Housekeeping Magazine) and Harriet Morley (Mövenpick Ice cream) to carefully select the shortlisted five. The competitors were judged on five key criteria, including well-matched flavours, innovative use of Mövenpick ice cream and the origin of the ingredients used. The judge’s decision was also based on carousel-02contemporary presentation and suitability for serving in gastro pubs, premium restaurants and hotels. The winner of the nail-biting live cook off will have the opportunity to showcase their recipe at Taster of London in June, as well as receiving VIP tickets to the festival with a three night stay at a 5 star London Hotel and spending money for their trip.
