Aimed at amateur chefs and passionate foodies, Simpsons - the cook book is brimming with starter, main course and pudding recipes that will impress any gourmet guest. This book will handhold its readers through impressive but realistic Michelin-starred recipes and is ideal for dinner parties or simply for those who want to up their game in the kitchen. 'We didn't want to be all show-offs and cheffy' says chef and owner Andreas Antona, 'we wanted a book food lovers can use and enjoy, but push themselves a little too. This is a great team effort from myself, Luke and Adam giving an insight into popular dishes that our customers regularly ask us the recipes for.' Starters include ceps on toast with summer truffle; and risotto of goat's cheese, piquillo pepper and rocket. Main courses cover rustic dishes from poulet Basquaise to great favourites such as cote du boeuf, Yorkshire pudding and roast new season carrots.

A Sunday lunch alternative of sticky glazed spare ribs is a great favourite of Antona and his hungry brood of four. Eye-catching and delicious desserts range from great retro efforts such as black forest in a glass and chocolate baked Alaska to the more simple but equally impressive white chocolate truffles with rum and vanilla; perfect as petits fours with coffee. Family-owned Simpsons restaurant, which has its own cookery school, was established over 18 years ago and is just minutes away from Birmingham city centre. The Georgian Grade II listed building has 70 covers, four bedrooms, a private dining room and a lounge with a conservatory overlooking a charming and secluded garden. It was recently placed 36th in the 2010 Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurants Supplement published in association with Hardens Restaurant Guides and 40th in 2010 National Restaurant Awards.
