South West chefs raise over £50K for charity polo day

On Sunday, September 11, 2016 seven award winning chefs raised over £50, 000 in aid of industry charity, Hospitality Action during their seventh annual polo day at Beaufort Polo Club in Gloucestershire.

Penny Moore, chief executive, Hospitality Action, said: “Tickets to the Polo Day sold out almost instantly, a true testament to the hard work everyone puts in. We are indebted to all our event sponsors especially PSL The Food Professionals, Taitinger and Hatch Mansfield for the wines.”

Guests enjoyed a three course lunch prepared by chefs Michael Bedford of The Calcot Collection, Martin Burge of Whatley

Manor, Josh Eggleton of The Pony & Trap, Hywel Jones of Lucknam Park, Sam Moody of The Bath Priory and Richard Picard-Edwards of Lords of the Manor. Chef Richard Bertinet joined the day for the first time and rounded off proceedings with a delicious afternoon tea.

Dishes included dressed Cornish crab with violet artichoke, roasted crab mayonnaise and yuzu puree.

The event was attended by a number of well-known figures from the industry including Harry Murray MBE of Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa, Richard Ball, Executive Chairman of Calcot Hotels and Graham Grose, Director of Thurlestone Estates.
