Tapas chain Ibérica ‘on brink of collapse’

Spanish restaurant chain Ibérica, headed by Michelin-starred chef Nacho Manzano, is “on the brink of collapse”, according to a report by Sky News.

Ibérica operates sites in London and Leeds and is said to have “filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators” earlier this week. Professional services firm RSM are reportedly handling the insolvency.

Chef director Nacho was born in Spain and oversees Casa Marcial in his home region of Asturias, which recently was awarded three Michelin stars, as well as a Michelin green star.

He champions sustainability and using

local produce, and says Ibérica “showcases classic and contemporary dishes using the very best Spanish ingredients”.

On the menu are dishes such as cured Manchego, chorizo tortilla and jamon Ibérico.

Ibérica opened its first restaurant in Marylebone in 2008 and has since expanded to other parts of London, as well as opening in Leeds in 2016. It also had a restaurant in Manchester, which closed in 2020.

Ibérica was last week publicising its Christmas offerings, and is yet to make an official comment on this news of potential administration.
