The Staff Canteen Brings Chefs Closer Together with Chef+

This month, the UK’s leading networking site for chefs, The Staff Canteen (www.thestaffcanteen.com), is launching Chef+ the first smart phone application for chefs.  Chef+ will be free to all chefs and to premium suppliers listed on The Staff Canteen website.  It will enable interaction between chefs and industry professionals, access to a suppliers’ database and video and image sharing and comment. The application’s rich media galleries will allow chefs to create recipes from their phone and to upload and share video and images which can then be reviewed and rated by other members.  Chef+ will be fully integrated with all social media platforms but with enhanced functionality created specifically for chefs. Says Mark Morris, owner and founder of The Staff Canteen, “Recent months have seen an explosion of people accessing social media platforms via apps.  Conscious that more chefs use smart phones than PCs, we wanted to create the ultimate chef’s app that any level of chef, from school leaver to executive, can use as both a personal and business resource.  Most chefs are sociable but they are also time poor, Chef+ will make staying in touch with their peers much easier for them.” The concept is already proving popular amongst key industry figures and has received positive feedback from some of the UK’s top chefs. “The Staff Canteen app is such a great idea, providing the opportunities for so many chefs from different areas of the industry to share recipes and product information and hopefully get behind the scenes of some of the best kitchens in the country.” comments Tom Kerridge chef patron at the two Michelin starred pub, The Hand and Flowers in Marlow. Simon Hulstone, chef manager of Michelin starred The Elephant in Torquay, says, “I think an opportunity for chefs to create a professional network of other like-minded chefs has to be a very positive thing for the industry” Gary Jones, executive chef at Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons says, “This is great opportunity for chefs to take a look into the best kitchens in the land and see what other Chefs are willing to share.” Chef+ will be available for download from mid-January and is suitable for iphones and Androids. About The Staff Canteen The Staff Canteen was founded in 2008 by chef, Mark Morris who wanted to create a website for chefs to share information, recipes, photos, recruit chefs and find work.  It now has more than 5000 members from all over the world and receives more than 1000 hits per day.
