The YBFs have announced the launch of a brand new vegetable category in their search for the freshest faces in food and drink.

Bruno Loubet - © Amy Murrell   The new category joins nine others and will be headed up by vegetable advocate Bruno Loubet who very much sees “the vegetable as the star of the plate”. Joining him will be Michelin-Starred chef Simon Rogan and supperclub pioneer Ms Marmite Lover as they search for the people who are bringing vegetables back to the forefront of the British menu. Entrants do not have to be a vegetarian to enter this category but do need to have a genuine passion for using vegetables in their repertoire. Simon Rogan The YBFs is a nationwide search to discover, embrace and celebrate the unsung heroes that are set to shake up the food and drink world and become the faces of the future. These are no ordinary awards - unlike the average ‘best restaurant’ or ‘best bar’ awards, The YBFs are on a mission to scour the country for the nation’s best butchers, bakers and cocktail makers, as well as food writers and entrepreneurs. Vegetable judge Bruno Loubet says: “I think the YBFs is great, as it showcases some of the best new talent in the industry. I’m thrilled to be one of the judges and I can’t wait to see what culinary wizardry the entrants have in store for us.” With Simon having his own natural farm just outside Cartmel in Cumbria, enabling the provision of homegrown produce to all of his restaurants, and Kerstin Rodgers, aka MsMarmiteLover, being a chef, author, award-winning food blogger and the pioneer of the underground and pop up Ms Marmite Loverrestaurant movement the new category is certainly in good hands. In their search across Britain, The YBFs invite food enthusiasts to enter any of its ten diverse categories:
  • Vegetable, judged by Bruno Loubet, Simon Rogan and Ms Marmite Lover
  • Alcohol, judged by Tony C
  • Street-Food, judged by Petra Barran, Nichola Smith and Claire Kelsey

The YBFs have been created by three pioneers who believe there is a food and drink movement that is as significant as art. They are food journalist and Editor, Chloe Scott-Moncrieff, creative baker and founder of Lily Vanilli, Lily Jones, and Amy Thorne, founder and MD of TASTE PR. Entries close at the end of June.
