Last week popular Italian TV chef, Gianfranco Vissani launched into a tirade of abuse against vegans during his On Air prime time chat show.

During the outburst, Cianfranco said: "Vegans are like [members of] a sect, they're like Jehovah's Witnesses.”

He continued: “It’s true, and I mean vegans, not vegetarians. What would I do with the vegans? I would kill them all.”

Following the chef’s comments viewers immediately took to Twitter to express their disgust.

One tweet from Sara Andrews attacked Gianfranco’s

diet saying he (Gianfranco) is an example of why meat is bad for you.

Another from Tartufona poked fun at the situation suggesting Gianfranco had been possessed by mad cow disease.

Gianfranco is a popular chef, TV personality and author. He was awarded two Michelin stars in 2007 and was a judge on the Italian version of Ready, Steady, Cook as well as being a host for an episode of the fifth series of MasterChef Italia.
