Westminster Kingsway College has won the British Culinary Federation Student Cook & Serve Competition for the second year running. The competition, now it’s in 12th year and sponsored by Brakes Fresh Ideas took place on Tuesday 14th May at Stratford upon Avon College. OCVC College, Banbury Campus came second, with University College Birmingham coming third. The best Kitchen Team was awarded to OCVC College, Banbury Campus. The best front of House went to Sophie Streeting, Westminster Kingsway College, and the team for the best Hygiene practices went to Northampton College. Teams consisted of two chefs and one waiter, to produce and serve a three course menu for 4 covers, two to be served to invited diners, and two for the judges, within a period of 105 minutes. The Judges for the event were; Lee Corke (Chairman of Judges), Paul Gould OBE, Eric Bruce, Matt Owens, Matt Cheal and Kristian Curtis with kitchen invigilator’s, Graham Crump and Chris Hudson. Front of House Judges were; Alfonso Ruiz and Stephen Lambert. Competition Organiser was Geoff Tookey with admin support from Jayne Mottram and Christine Tookey.
