Who is chef Sagar Massey, MasterChef: The Professionals 2022 finalist?

Ahead of MasterChef: The Professionals 2022, which airs on BBC One every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 2 november, we find out more about the chefs taking part.

Introducing Sagar Massey, senior sous chef at the Marine & Lawn hotel in Troon.

He previously worked at Martin Wisharts Loch Lomond, Isle of Eriska, Mar Hall Hotel Bishopston, Rusacks St Andrews, Cail Bruich Glasgow and cites his parents as role models.

Where are you from/where do you live?

Sagar is from Bulandshahr (near to New Delhi) India and lives in Johnstone (outskirts of Glasgow) Scotland.

What type of a chef are you?

Senior Sous Chef

Do you have a favourite type of cuisine?

He likes to recreate dishes but his favourite cuisine is Indian cuisine.

How did you become a chef?

Sagar became a chef by attending

cooking school.

Where have you worked?

He has worked at Martin Wisharts Loch Lomond, Isle of Eriska, Mar Hall Hotel Bishopston, Rusacks St Andrews, Cail Bruich Glasgow and currently at Marine & Lawn Hotel in Troon.

Who are your mentors/role models/people you look up to?

Sagar's role models are his mum and dad, with his dad being a chef and his mum being an amazing home cook.

What is your guilty pleasure dish?

Dish called “Chole Bhature” it’s an Indian street food dish.

What is the best thing / worst thing about being a chef?
