La Liste has released its selection of the world's best restaurants for 2022, with Guy Savoy in Paris in first position for the fifth year running, Le Bernadin in New York in second spot and Le Cheval d'Or in St Tropez in third.

Following these in fourth position is Martin Berasategui's Lasarte Restaurant, Restaurant l'Hotel de Ville in Switzerland in fifth, Björn Frantzén's eponymous Stockholm restaurant in sixth, Alain Passard's three Michelin-starred Parisian restaurant, L'Arpège in 7th, L'Auberge du Vieux Puits in 8th and Schwarzwaldstube in Baiersbronn, Germany in 9th, all scoring 99 percent according to the guide's scoring system.

54 UK restaurants made the list, including three in the Top 200: Core by Clare Smyth ranked 15th at 98 percent, L'Enclume was placed in 156th position with 94 percent while Restaurant Gordon Ramsay just made the cut, placing in 200th position, scoring 93 percent.

Then followed Restaurant Moor Hall (92%), Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester (92%), The Fat Duck (91%), Ynyshir (91%), Hélène Darroze at The Connaught (88.5%), The Dining Room at Whatley Manor (88%), Claude Bosi at Bibendum (87%), Restaurant Sat Bains (87%) and Midsummer House (86.5%).

As with all awards, integrity and transparency play a big role in La Liste's reputation and credibility.

In order to compile La Liste, 970 guides, publications and user-contributed sites are aggregated into one database, then these evaluations are turned into a score out of 100 on the basis of a reliability coefficient which then allows them to be weighted for the final average score for each restaurant - which determines their rank.

As well as its list of best restaurants in the world, La Liste hands out a number of awards: two for a 'new gastronomic destination' -  defining it as "a city, region or country in full gastronomic development, soon a must for gourmets," this time selecting Eastern Europe and the southern French city of Marseille; an innovation award; a diversity award; a solidarity award; a sustainability award; a digital innovation award; six new restaurant openings of note; a selection of 'unique' restaurants showcasing the best of their terroir; a selection of restaurants worth commending for demonstrating the best craftsmanship and authenticity in their offer, and finally, a 'new talents of the year' selection - of which Lorna McNee of Michelin-starred Cail Bruich in Glasgow was one of six recipients.
