Energy Saving

Energy Saving – It could mean replacing old, inefficient equipment, it could mean using new software solutions, or even tweaking your recipes and work practices. We cover it all for you here.

RATIONAL multifunctional cooking appliances contribute enormously to reducing the energy and resource footprint in professional kitchens. Utilising advanced technology cooking systems, such as intelligent sensors and precise temperature control, to cook food with minimal energy usage offering up to 34% less electricity and 53% less water consumption than conventional appliances.

Royal United Hospitals Bath has been using RATIONAL equipment for several years, including the iCombi Pro combi-steamer, predecessor models, and advanced multifunctional bratt pans. Philip Watson, Head of Facilities, shares, “We’ve previously been nominated for an NHS sustainability award. The RATIONAL equipment has enabled us to go further, with a reduction in water usage of around 50% in our kitchen and a saving in energy consumption.”

The iVario Pro L advanced bratt pan contributes to environmental sustainability by emitting up to 50% less CO2 compared to conventional appliances. The decreased number of required appliances necessitates less transport volume during delivery, reducing CO2 emissions by over 50%. With 36% less weight in transit, there's a subsequent decrease in energy and water consumption during transportation.

All iCombi Pro (combi steamer) models are ENERGY STAR® certified, exceeding rigorous energy efficiency standards set by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in January 2023. Additionally, RATIONAL's iCombi Pro 10-1/1 electric model and gas models are included in the Energy Technology List (ETL) under the Professional Foodservice Equipment (PFSE) category, endorsed by the UK government for sustainability and low-carbon credentials.

RATIONAL cooking systems are multifunctional, capable of performing a variety of cooking techniques in a single unit. This versatility eliminates the need for multiple appliances, saving both space and resources. The iCombi Pro and iVario Pro enable chefs to cook in large or small batches, responding to real-time demand. Cooking exactly what's needed ensures that ingredients are used to their full potential, minimising waste.

RATIONAL cooking systems are built to withstand the demands of commercial kitchens. Their durability ensures a longer lifespan, reducing the need for frequent replacements and thus lowering the environmental impact associated with manufacturing and disposal of appliances.

An additional function available exclusively in ConnectedCooking: the dashboard for digital energy usage display. This gives users an overview of the energy requirements of the iCombi Pro, and its predecessor model the SelfCookingCenter and enables them to identify potential savings.
