Leading figures from the UK hospitality industry came together this month for an exclusive Food Fight Boxing Preview Day, marking the official launch of Prept. Foundation’s flagship fundraising event set to take place in March 2026.
Some of the UK’s most celebrated chefs, including Jason Atherton, Paul Foster, Niall Keating, Chloe McCoy, and Woongchul Park, joined sponsors and supporters to begin their journey from kitchen to boxing ring, giving sponsors an early look at one of the most ambitious charity events the hospitality industry has seen.
DJ BBQ, who will serve as MC for the main Food Fight gala in March (along with Chef DJ Chet Sharma) was in attendance, supporting the fighters as they took part in their first professional training session under the guidance of former heavyweight boxing champion Scott Welch, with additional support from WBC Cares, whose involvement is helping ensure the highest standards of training, safety, and fighter welfare.
Chefs on Craft, Commitment, and Cause.
A key moment of the day came during a Q&A session with the chefs, where participants drew striking parallels between the disciplines of professional cooking and boxing. Chefs spoke openly about the dedication, repetition, resilience, and mental focus required to succeed in both worlds, highlighting that the same commitment honed in kitchens over years of training now underpins their preparation for the ring.
During the discussion, chefs were united in their belief that Prept. Foundation represents a genuinely important cause. They spoke about the need to give back to an industry that has shaped their careers, raise awareness around food education, and support young people who may otherwise lack access to skills, confidence, and opportunity.
Many noted that Food Fight offers a powerful platform to shine a light on the realities of hospitality, while channelling the competitive spirit chefs are known for into something that delivers long-term social impact.
The preview day also included behind-the-scenes access to the chefs’ training, early “fighting talk” from participants, and insight into the physical and mental commitment required ahead of fight night.
Guests were additionally taken on a guided tour of Old Billingsgate, the iconic riverside venue that will host the Food Fight gala, offering a glimpse of the dramatic setting for the main event.
Chefs in the Ring for a Cause
Taking place on Monday 2 March 2026, Food Fight is a white-collar boxing gala that will see leading chefs and hospitality professionals compete in professionally trained bouts, all in aid of Prept. Foundation’s food education programmes.
In the lead-up to the event, fighters undergo structured boxing training, with supporters, brands, and fans able to sponsor their favourite chef. Sponsorship contributions directly fund Prept’s work while pushing chefs up the official Food Fight Leaderboard, unlocking exclusive recognition and benefits on the night.
