The Tokyo College of Sushi and Washoku, London announces the launch of its Scholarship programme in partnership with Mizkan Euro for chefs wanting to advance their culinary expertise into Japanese cuisine.
A world-leading sushi seasoning producer since 1804, Mizkan is renowned for its quality and innovation and this collaboration confirms its commitment to supporting a future generation of chefs who want to train in the authentic art of Japanese cuisine.
Chefs with genuine Omotenashi (Japanese hospitality) skills are highly sought after across the world as the popularity of Japanese restaurants expands. Since Washoku earned recognition as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2013, the number of Japanese restaurants has grown from approximately 24k in 2006 to 187k in 20231 with a 20% increase in Europe alone.
The College is the only one in the UK to offer a full-time, six month diploma course certified by the Japanese government in the specialist skills of authentic Japanese cuisine, food culture and traditions. The launch of this three year Scholarship programme, which covers tuition fees and all associated costs, presents chefs with a fantastic opportunity to master the art of Japanese cuisine in a unique environment, training with first class Japanese chefs from Tokyo.
