James Cross is the chef-owner of Lake Road Kitchen, a highly acclaimed restaurant in Ambleside, Cumbria. Known for its diverse tasting menus; distinctive dining experience and emphasis on exceptional flavour and creativity, Lake Road Kitchen has carved out a niche for itself in the competitive culinary world since its opening in 2014.
BIOGRAPHY
James Cross's culinary journey is marked by his commitment to understanding and celebrating quality ingredients and traditional cooking methods. His approach to cooking is deeply influenced by traditional techniques; quality ingredients and flavour, themes that are central to the philosophy at Lake Road Kitchen.
James started his career at Michelin-starred restaurant Simpsons in Birmingham with Luke Tipping. He then travelled to three Michelin star restaurant La Pergola in Rome, where he worked under Heinz Beck followed by a stint in New York at three Michelin-starred Per Se with Thomas Keller. He then spent two years working at Noma in Copenhagen and was part of the team that saw them twice retain the coveted No 1. spot in the World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards.
