Björn Frantzén is chef-patron of two-Michelin starred Restaurant Frantzén in Stockholm, Sweden. He began his career as a professional football player in Sweden before switching to cheffing. As a chef he has worked in some of Europe’s best kitchens including two-Michelin-star Restaurant Edsbacka Krog in Stockholm, two-Michelin-star Restaurant Lettonie in Bath; Raymond Blanc’s two-Michelin-starred Le Manoir aux Quat’ Saisons in Oxford; three-Michelin-star Restaurant Chez Nico; Tom Aiken’s former two-Michelin-starred Pied á Terre and Alain Passard’s Parisian three-star restaurant L’Arpege. Björn opened Restaurant Frantzén/ Lindeberg in 2008 with friend and pastry chef Daniel Lindeberg whom he first met during his time at Edsbacka Krog in Stockholm. The restaurant gained its first Michelin star just one year after opening in 2009 and its second star in 2010. In 2011 the restaurant was awarded the San Pellegrino World’s 50 Best ’The One to Watch ’award followed by a number 20 ranking in 2012, number 12 in 2013 and number 23 on this year’s list. It was also ranked as Sweden’s Best Restaurant in 2011 and 2012. Last year Restaurant Frantzén/ Lindeberg became just Restaurant Frantzén after Daniel Lindeberg’s departure, however Björn continues to serve fresh, exciting seasonal dishes with little-known and sometimes surprising ingredients, keeping it at the forefront of Nordic and world cuisine.
