Get your kids cooking like Michelin star chefs with free Great British Chefs Kids Christmas iOS app

Great British Chefs and Tesco have joined forces to release a new free app for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch that is designed to encourage kids to help out with Christmas meals. The Cooking with Kids Christmas App features 75 recipes from launch created by some of Britain's finest chefs, and a further 30 will be added at the beginning of December. Barry Hyde of The Futureheads takes up new career as a chef

Barry Hyde, front man with The Futureheads, is training to be a chef. The 32-year-old singer took the opportunity to pursue a long-held interest in cookery while the band are on an extended break. For the last two weeks he's been working at Juniper's Pantry deli in Sunderland, one of the top fine dining destinations in the North East. "I'm at the bottom of the ladder," Hyde told NME. "I get to wear the whites, but I mainly do preparation, get shouted at and clean up after messy chefs." Read more from NME  

Staten Island chef Sean Quinn wins Food Network's 'Chopped!'

Quinn's creative dessert made the most of his required basket ingredients -- "dried apricot cake with marshmallow snack cake yogurt sauce, and orange blossom water maple bacon ice cream with with the bacon opal basil brittle" -- and earned him the title of Chopped! champion.  "This means so much to me -- it's great," a teary-eyed Quinn said as he was pronounced the victor after three rounds.
