Great British Menu 2022: BBC series to return with Tom Kerridge, Nisha Katona and Ed Gamble as hosts

Great British Menu is set to return in 2022 with a new group of judges: chef Tom Kerridge; restaurant group Mowgli Street Food founder, chef and cookbook author Nisha Katona; and Ed Gamble, the award-winning standup comedian and co-host of the Off Menu food podcast.

The move marks a great shift from tradition for the BBC show, as it was judged by food critics Matthew Fort and Oliver Peyton for the entirety of its 15 year run to date, joined by Rachel Khoo in the last series.

Other previous judges included Prue Leith between 2006 and 2016, followed by Andi Oliver, who left her post as a judge to host the series last year, replacing Susan Calman.

All evidence suggests that the format of the show will remain otherwise unchanged, and veteran chefs who previously appeared on the show will return as judges in each of the regional heats.

Tom Kerridge, restaurant owner and chef, who took two of his dishes to the Great

British Menu banquet in series 5 and 6 of the show, in 2010 and 2011, said he was "thrilled" to take on the role.

Meanwhile, Ed Gamble, who appeared on the show as a guest judge last year and has expanded his presence in the world of food with his celebrated podcast, Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster, also expressed his excitement for the move.
