Marcus Wareing restaurant The Gilbert Scott located inside the St Pancras Rennaissance Hotel in London will not be reopening as an end on the lease has brought the venture to a natural end.

The 120-seater restaurant set in one of the capital's most famous 19th century hotels was launched in 2011 with chef Chantelle Nicholson (now chef owner of Tredwell's and All's Well) at the helm.

A message on the restaurant's website explains that "the plan was always to operate out of the stunning space for a maximum of ten years and as that milestone has been reached, it has been decided not to extend the lease." 

"We want to thank all the staff and customers for their unrivalled support and dedication to creating such a memorable dining experience."

Meanwhile, Marcus Wareing's eponymous Michelin-starred flagship is reopening today as indoor hospitality is allowed to resume operations in England.

The release continues: "Marcus will continue to run his Michelin-starred restaurant, Marcus in Knightsbridge and looks forward to welcoming guests for its reopening on Monday 17th May, with a fresh new menu and exciting development plans for the imminent future."

On the weekend, the chef told The Times that he was nervous and excited about reopening, but, most of all, after an incredibly tough financial year, "looking forward to hearing the beeping of credit cards being swiped."
