Further to her announcement earlier this year, that she would be leaving the business, chef Marianne Lumb’s eponymous restaurant in Notting Hill has closed its doors.

Eater revealed that the restaurant’s website is currently offline and that its Google listing states that the restaurant is ‘permanently closed’.

The Staff Canteen tried to contact the restaurant for comment but was unable to speak to a representative.

The head chef and founder revealed that she would be leaving the restaurant which opened in 2014 to pursue other projects overseas but confirmed that the restaurant would remain open with chef Miles Strotton at the helm.

At the time, she told The Staff Canteen: "I just can't take the business forward any further without me being here 24/7. It's been five years and it's been an incredible five years and I couldn't have wished for anything more.

"It's just time for me to move on for personal and professional reasons."

She added: "It's very positive and my team

are going to stay at the restaurant, there is no animosity, I'm very excited for them and I really believe in them they are a strong team."

Marianne says she has a very exciting schedule coming up and after a trip to Australia she is hoping to go to Asia and work with chef David Thompson who recently left Nahm in Bangkok.

She said: "It's always been a dream of mine to go and work in Asia and I want to go and investigate all the amazing dishes and ingredients - that's the reason I became a chef!

"But I very much hope to make a return to the UK, I loved having a restaurant and I'm proud to leave a young and passionate team who are dedicated."

Marianne is a former MasterChef: The Professionals finalist and is also currently appearing on Great British Menu. She started her career in restaurant kitchens including Michelin-starred Gravetye Manor but in 2000 she embarked on a career as a private chef. After travelling the world cooking for many wealthy and powerful people she decided, in 2013, it was time to open Marianne restaurant.
