Taking on 47 other professional chefs in the pursuit of gastronomic glory, Craig battled through seven weeks of fierce competition and extra-ordinary cooking in the culinary challenges. He was judged the winner by two Michelin-starred chef Marcus Wareing, renowned chef Monica Galetti and MasterChef’s seasoned judge, Gregg Wallace.

Who were the MasterChef: The Professionals 2017 finalists?

Finals week saw Craig compete against fellow competitors, Louisa Ellis, senior chef de partie at The Wilderness; Steven Lickley, sous chef for Vacherin London and Jamie Park, head chef at Adam Handling's restaurant, The Frog, in Covent Garden. Craig's determination, technical ability and imagination led the chef to victory in finals week. Throughout his journey, Craig had received outstanding praise from all three judges.

His challenges throughout the competition included: creating and delivering a Michelin-standard dish for 23 gastronomical giants from around the world with the others in the Final Four; and, as part of the Final Three, travelling to the South of France to learn in the supremely innovative two-Michelin starred kitchens of the fourth best restaurant in the world - Mirazur - from inspirational Argentinian chef Mauro Colagreco.

The final task was to create an exceptional three-course meal for judges Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and Gregg Wallace, in three hours. Craig's winning menu consisted of mackerel two ways with beetroot and dill iced granita to start; roast squab pigeon with thyme-infused pommes Anna for main; and yoghurt mousse with a basil marshmallow, frozen lemon cells and verbena frozen yoghurt rocks for dessert.
