Mark Sargeant to reopen Brasserie MS as Restaurant MS

Award-winning chef Mark Sargeant has announced he is reopening his Folkestone restaurant, Brasserie MS, which he closed earlier this year in a shock announcement.

The restaurant, formerly known as Brasserie MS, will now be named Restaurant MS and will feature a similar style of food that Mark was serving at the beginning of the year.

Mark's culinary expertise is well-established, having spent 13 years working alongside Gordon Ramsay as his right-hand man, and winning the Craft Guild of Chef’s prestigious National Chef of the Year award in 2002.

Announcing the news on his social media, Mark said: "Today after 5 months of back and forth I am ecstatic to say that I finally got the keys back to my restaurant in Folkestone. I plan to tweak a few things including a small change to the name but the restaurant formerly known as The Brasserie MS will be reopening at the beginning of September!"

The revamped restaurant is set to open its doors in September, offering a more high-end experience than its previous brasserie-style format.

The menu will continue to feature delightful dishes like lasagne of seafood, pigs trotter 'Pierre Koffmann,' and fish creations based on the catch of the day.

Discussing the reaction he’s received from supporters, Mark said: "I can’t wait to get back in there and have lots of things planned. I would like to say a massive thank you to all the messages of good will I’ve received over the past months and the massive support I’ve had from people around me. I’ve really seen the good in lots of people and I just can’t wait to get open again and welcome back past guests and new. I had so many messages from people who were planning to come before I closed well now you can!"

He added: "Any restaurant only survives on the support of its guests so I will welcome you all with open arms and see you very soon. I will be posting more when the bookings are open. It’s been a tough ride but I’m ready to get back at it!!!! I can’t wait to get open and smash it big time."

With the backing of local hotelier Kanagaratnam Rajamenon, the managing director of Leaf Hotels, which operates the Best Western Clifton hotel in Folkestone, Mark is ready to make Restaurant MS a standout dining destination in the south-east.
