Every restaurant added to The Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland in 2026
Tom Simmons’s new 12-seat counter restaurant Lofft in Cardiff and Dayashankar Sharma’s modern Indian bistro Bauji in Worthing lead 22 restaurants added to The Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland in August.
Jersey’s Saint Helier supplied three of the month’s additions and Broadstairs’ Aster joining as one of the year’s rare vegan entries.
The Michelin Guide updates its online selection throughout the year, with inspectors adding newly recommended restaurants ahead of the annual awards ceremony.
These monthly additions are not the same as Michelin stars, Bib Gourmands or special awards. Those are announced separately at the annual Michelin Guide ceremony.
This page tracks every restaurant added to The Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland in 2026, with the latest additions listed first.

Lofft, Cardiff
Modern British · chef Tom Simmons · opened February 2026
Cardiff diners will already know Tom Simmons from his Pontcanna brasserie, Thomas the Brasserie, but Lofft is where he is showing his full range.
The 12-seat counter restaurant sits directly above the brasserie, giving guests a close-up view of the kitchen as executive chef Tom Peters and his small team work through a menu built around Welsh produce, among them Carmarthenshire lamb and a suet pudding filled with braised lamb shoulder.
The counter seats a maximum of 12 across a single table facing the open kitchen, priced at £110 a head and running Wednesday and Thursday evenings plus Friday and Saturday lunch and dinner.
Bauji, Worthing

Indian · chef Dayashankar Sharma · opened March 2026
Dayashankar Sharma spent 10 years with the Oberoi Group before moving to England in 2000, going on to hold roles at Michelin-starred Tamarind and Zaika.
He is chef-owner of Heritage Dulwich, which has held a place in the Michelin Guide since 2022, and has now opened Bauji in Worthing.
The modern Indian bistro takes its name from the Hindi word for father and serves what Dayashankar describes as "Indian comfort cooking," built around the flavours of his childhood in Rajasthan and recipes handed down through his family.
Elsewhere, Jersey continues to build its presence on the Guide: Saint Helier supplies three of August’s additions in Spanish restaurant Arroz, traditional British newcomer Sage and Italian spot Tavola, alongside Ob Mizi at the Table in neighbouring Saint Brelade.
Broadstairs’ Aster, from Michelin-recognised chef Luke Crittenden, joins as one of only a handful of vegan restaurants to make the Guide this year.

February 2026 Michelin Guide ceremony
February was different from the monthly additions updates.
Rather than a normal monthly list of newly recommended restaurants, February was when The Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2026 was officially revealed at the annual ceremony in Dublin.
That ceremony confirmed the new Michelin stars, Bib Gourmands, green stars and special awards for the 2026 Guide.
Among the headline stories, Bonheur by Matt Abé and Row on 5, from Jason Atherton and Spencer Metzger, were both awarded two Michelin stars, while 20 restaurants received one star.

What does being added to The Michelin Guide mean?
Being added to The Michelin Guide means a restaurant has been selected by Michelin’s inspectors and included in the Guide’s online restaurant selection.
It does not mean the restaurant has been awarded a Michelin star.
Michelin stars, Bib Gourmands, Green Stars and special awards are announced separately at the annual Michelin Guide ceremony.
However, a Guide listing remains a significant recognition for restaurants, chefs and front-of-house teams, particularly for new openings and restaurants building national visibility.
This article will continue to be updated as Michelin announces further additions throughout 2026.
