The Staff Canteen
Roka Hamish BrownROKA is set to open at the end of October in Aldwych, moments from the Strand and minutes from the River Thames, it will be the second London opening this year to mark the 10-year anniversary of Rainer Becker’s flagship on Charlotte Street.   With it’s contemporary Japanese robatayaki cuisine ROKA Aldwych will be the largest of the ROKA restaurants in the city, seating over 150 guests in the restaurant and bar. For this project, founder Rainer Becker has teamed up with acclaimed Italian designer, Claudio Silvestrin, whom he previously collaborated with on Oblix restaurant and bar. Textural highlights such as porphyry stone, natural tanned leathers, stained grey timber and dried green oak will create a relaxed yet dynamic space that embraces the symbolic heart of ROKA – its central robata grill. Small Contribution. Big Impact.

The Staff Canteen has always been more than a website—it’s a community, built by and for hospitality. We share the wins, the challenges, the graft, and the inspiration that keeps kitchens alive.

We believe in staying open to everyone, but creating this content takes real resources. If you’ve ever found value here—whether it’s a recipe, an interview, or a laugh when you needed it most—consider giving just £3 to keep it going.

A little from you keeps this space free for all. Let’s keep lifting the industry, together.
