Chef owner of three Michelin-starred noma René Redzepi has co-written and will narrate a Food-themed documentary series called 'Omnivore,' exploring the relationship between society, the planet and the food we eat

The series, which will air on Apple TV+, was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga - the filmmaker behind the most recent James Bond film, the first series of True Detective and Netflix original film, Beasts of No Nation - will recount the story of humanity and the planet on the basis of eight defining ingredients.

Omnivore will analyse our world through the lens of food; how it binds us together, powers politics, shapes our beliefs, defines us as people, and explains our past, even venturing a guess at how food can forecast our future.

In a statement, the streaming platform said the

series "explores the beauty, complexity and interconnectivity of human culture and the natural world through the way we manipulate, celebrate and consume its best resources – the ones we eat.”

Each episode, which will be narrated by René Redzepi, will take viewers to locals and destinations all around the world and will explore a different ingredient that has "built societies, shaped spirituality, and forever altered the human story."

René is the co-owner of three-Michelin starred Noma in Copenhagen, which is currently ranked number one on the World's 50 Best Restaurant list. Omnivore was developed by René and Cary, along with James Beard and Emmy award-winning food journalist and author, Matt Goulding.

A release date for the series is yet to be announced.
