Renowned Irish chef Richard Corrigan has taken over the lease for the Old Street property formerly occupied by Nuala and is planning to open a restaurant, Daffodil Mulligan, in September.

The chef confirmed the rumours on Twitter, saying he has put together an A-team comprised of Green & Fortune founder and CEO John Nugent for the front of house, Gibney's bar manager Tony Gibney's, and King's Place manager Peter Millican (to "catalogue the musical offering," according to the chef).

  • The restaurant, Daffodil Mulligan ( named after an Irish street singer's daughter, Biddy Mulligan, according to Hot Dinners) will open in September,

Before the chef, most famous for his Mayfair restaurant, Corrigan's, as well as for his Bentley's seafood restaurants and his many TV appearances, bought the venue, Nuala was a modern Irish restaurant.

It was short lived, however, staying open for just a year; chef and co-founder Niall Davidson left after four months and his successor, Colin McSherry followed suit to run the kitchen at Gridiron in Mayfair.
