End of an era: The White Horse Mayfair to close later this month

The Staff Canteen

The White Horse in Mayfair has confirmed it will close on Friday, December 19, 2025, following landlord redevelopment plans that will end the wine bar’s five-year run.

The news was shared in a brief Instagram post, where the team said the announcement was 'short and sweet' but nonetheless marked a significant shift for the venue.

The White Horse thanked guests who had supported the bar since opening, recognising everyone who had stopped by 'for a glass or several' or chosen the space for private events. The team reflected openly on the project’s roots, describing it as a passion-driven endeavour from the very beginning.

A heartfelt farewell to guests

In its message, the team emphasised how meaningful the past five years had been, noting that the experience had been shaped by the community of regulars, event hosts and visitors who had filled the space.

A post on social media read: "Short and sweet.

"We’re sad to say that on December 19th we will be closing our doors, due to landlord redevelopment.
It’s been a fun five years, thank you to every one of you that’s joined us for a glass or several or hosted an event with us.

"The White Horse has been a passion project at its core, and we do hope to be afforded the opportunity to imbue that spirit into another project in the future, so watch this space.

"In the meantime, join us over the next two weeks to raise a glass - there

will be Bin Ends and a few special bottles opened as we clear out the cellar."

Inside The White Horse Mayfair

How The White Horse is linked to HIDE and Hedonism Wines

The White Horse was not just another independent bar - it was part of a wider hospitality network. The venue was launched by the same group behind Hedonism Wines, which also operates Michelin-starred HIDE

Moreover, the food and wine philosophy at The White Horse drew directly from that lineage. Its menu of small plates, sharing dishes, and a curated wine list was in line with the style and standards established by HIDE and the Hedonism Wines team - giving guests at The White Horse a taste of the same hospitality ethos.

Two final weeks to raise a glass

Ahead of the closure, The White Horse invited guests to return for a final visit over the next two weeks. The team confirmed that there would be a selection of bin ends and 'a few special bottles' available as they clear the cellar - a gesture aimed at giving regulars the chance to share a final moment with the bar before it shuts its doors.

The announcement encouraged guests to 'raise a glass,' framing the final stretch as a celebratory farewell rather than a quiet exit. The tone remained consistent with the bar’s identity: informal, warm and centred on hospitality.

The closure marks the end of a venue that has become a familiar stop for many in Mayfair, but the message signalled that the spirit of The White Horse may yet reappear in a new form.
