TSC Award 2024 Member of the Year: Jack Bond
Jack is the head chef and co-owner of The Cottage in the Wood, a Michelin-starred restaurant with rooms nestled in Whinlatter Forest near Keswick, Cumbria. Since joining the establishment in January 2024, Jack, alongside his wife Beth, has infused the restaurant with a fresh vision that honours its esteemed legacy while introducing innovative culinary perspectives.
Hailing from Southport, Jack's culinary journey spans over 16 years, marked by tenures at some of the world's most prestigious kitchens. His experience includes roles at Eleven Madison
Park in New York, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, Claridge’s, and The Berkeley in London. These positions have honed his skills and shaped his philosophy of seasonally led, flavour-driven, and sustainably focused cooking.
In July 2024, Jack and Beth acquired The Cottage in the Wood from its former owners, Liam and Kath Berney, who had transformed the 17th-century coaching inn into a renowned dining destination over their 22-year tenure. Under Jack's leadership, the restaurant has retained its Michelin star, a testament to his commitment to excellence and culinary artistry.
