Women 1st is extending the deadline for this year’s Shine Awards

The Staff Canteen
The only awards that specifically highlight the achievements of women in the hospitality industry and wider tourism and visitor economy sector have announced that it is extending the deadline for entries to its annual Shine Awards until Monday 14 July. Entries are now open in the following categories:
  • Rising Star
  • Stepping Up
  • Outstanding Entrepreneur
  • Mentor of the Year
  • Small Business
  • Large Business
  • Woman of the Year
  • Lifetime Achievement
Women 1st has also extended the deadline for nominations for its Top 100 Club – a network of the most influential women in hospitality, passenger transport, travel and tourism who act as ambassadors and role models for the female leaders of tomorrow. Ten new members of this prestigious network will be announced later this year, alongside the Shine Award winners. Women 1st director, Simone Roche, said: “Following our Women 1st Conference last week we’ve been inundated with requests to extend the deadline for the awards, so we’ve decided to push it back by a week to allow people to get their entries in. “Both the awards and Top 100 Club are hugely important in creating role models for women in our industries and developing tomorrow’s leaders, so I would definitely encourage organisations to put their staff (or themselves!) forward. We’ve been thrilled with the quality of the entries so far and look forward to receiving more!” Nominations can be made at www.women1st.co.uk/awards and www.women1st.co.uk/top100 and entries close at midnight on 14 July 2014. The winners of the Women 1st Shine Awards and the new members of the Women 1st Top 100 Club will be announced at a black tie dinner at the Marriott London Grosvenor Square, hosted by Matt Dawson MBE, on 16 September 2014.
