The UK winner of “Le Taittinger” International Culinary Prize has been announced as Charles Coulombeau, Head Chef at one Michelin star Gravetye Manor in Sussex.

On Monday 27th January 2020 Charles Coulombeau of Gravetye Manor in Grinstead (1 Michelin Star) won the 53rd edition of Le Taittinger International Culinary Prize.

The competition took place at L'Ecole Ferrandi in Paris and was the first under the new format, where each year sees one champion ingredient. This year's ingredient was Scallops.

Charles was in good company with Jérôme Jaegle of France's L'Alchemille and Jan Smink of The Netherlands' Smink in second and third place respectively.

Charles recipe:
- Roast scallops, buttered cabbage with black truffle
- Vegetable terrine, purée of king oyster mushrooms and scallop crumble
- Scallop-Truffle-potato and cabbage millefeuille
- Scallop mousse, roast celeriac and butternut purée
- Scallops à la Villeroy
- Earl Grey Sauce
- Coral Tuile
