New Zealand’s largest farming co-operative, Alliance, is delighted to announce it has partnered with UK online grocery giant Ocado, to sell its free-range Silere Alpine Merino lamb.
Available now, and packaged under Alliance’s product brand, Pure South, four new lamb products are now available to Ocado’s 680,00 active customers. These include, Silere Merino boneless leg joint, Silere Merino extra trimmed rack, Silere Merino lamb lion fillets and Silere Merino boneless rump.
Donna Smith, regional general manager for Alliance UK comments;
“Ocado is a formidable online grocery channel, and we are delighted at the new listings created through a partnership with Hilton Food Solutions.”
As with all Alliance’s lamb products, the Silere Merino lamb is grass fed, free range and GMO-free. The exquisite flavours of Silere Alpine Merino lamb originated from its distinctive flavour, infused through grazing on fragrant alpine herbs. Dusky red in colour and well-marbled, it is succulent and tender. All of which combines to deliver an exceptional clean finish on the palate and a rare delicacy that is the definition of taste elevated. Providing customers with an exceptional tasting flavoursome lamb.
In line with Alliance’s dedication to the natural environmental, the Silere Alpine Merino lamb at Ocado comes in a plastic-free and recyclable outer food pouch. The award-winning ‘Earthpouch’, is made from a paper with a 100% plastic-free heat-sealable coating, which forms a grease, water and moisture barrier. The pouch is recyclable as part of the paper stream and is suitable for re-pulping.
Michael Robinson, business development director at Hilton Food Solutions said:
“We are very pleased to partner with Alliance and bring the Ocado customer a unique offering which highlights the highest standards of taste, welfare and heritage.”
The name Silere, derives from the Latin 'to be silent' and reflects the space, stillness and silence of New Zealand's alpine region. The breath-taking alpine landscape is home to the Merino lamb and a select group of farmers entrusted with the guardianship of this pristine place and its heritage breed.
Long regarded for the quality of their fine wool, the exquisite flavour and character of Merino lamb has been a well-kept secret, until now. Truly free-range, Merino forage on the vast alpine grasslands of the South Island of New Zealand. Because the best things take time, Merino mature more slowly than other breeds, the golden tussock and wild mountain thyme naturally influencing flavour.
The Silere Merino lamb launch follows the recent and successful launch of Alliances’ Te Mana Lamb in October 2018.
