CHEF CELEBRATES CULINARY TALENT AND DIVERSITY AT THE CRAFT GUILD OF CHEFS AWARDS

Last month, the hospitality world gathered to celebrate the very best in culinary talent at the Craft Guild of Chefs awards.

CHEF was at the glittering ceremony at the Westminster Park Plaza Hotel, to join in celebrating the most innovative chefs the industry, with award categories ranging from young apprentice to specialist sections such as pastry chef and public sector chef.

Winners included Nigel Haworth from Northcote Manor, who was given the special award of the night, recognising his career and his unwavering support for the new generation of chefs, and Simon Webb, captain of the winning English National Culinary Team, who picked up the chef competition award (sponsored by CHEF) for his ‘hot kitchen’ gold-winning entry at the Culinary Olympics in Germany last year, a first for the English team.

CHEF consultant Andrej Prokes commented:

“Right now, the culinary world is an exciting and diverse place to work, packed with new ideas and concepts. With so many creative and dynamic new chefs in the frame, there is a genuine ‘buzz’ in the air and it’s exciting to be part of this.

“The chefs we celebrated at the Craft Guild of Chefs awards last month all demonstrate a passion, determination and commitment to craftsmanship and excellence that defines our industry.

“Now, more than ever, with many kitchens operating with far fewer staff and chefs facing increased pressures, it’s vital that we continue to nurture and inspire this passion, giving chefs the resources to allow their creativity and craftsmanship to shine.

“This is ultimately what CHEF is about – giving chefs time back to create even better dishes, and enabling them to be truly innovative. After all, chefs have inspired the evolution of the CHEF brand for over 40 years, and they continue to inspire us as we evolve – pushing boundaries and setting trends.”
