Multi award-winning chef José Pizarro is appointed Ambassador for Seafood from Norway

Top London restauranteur José Pizarro is the newest UK ambassador for Seafood from Norway, adding to their impressive roster of Michelin chef ambassadors.

Seafood from Norway is proud to announce the Godfather of Spanish cooking in the UK, José Pizarro, as its ambassador for 2019. José Pizarro joins Michelin-Starred Chefs Daniel Galmiche, Simon Hulstone and Michel Roux Jr in his new role as a UK ambassador for Norwegian seafood.

With Spanish cooking close to José’s heart, this new ambassador role will allow José to highlight the importance of using qualitative and sustainable white fish in Spanish cooking. A firm favourite within Spanish-speaking countries, Bacalao is a traditional Spanish dish featuring cod and José will highlight sourcing seafood from Norway means using the very best of seafood in his dishes.

Speaking about his new ambassador role, José Pizarro commented, “I am delighted to be working with Seafood from Norway. Norwegian seafood products are some of my favourites as their produce is so fresh, ensuring you get the highest quality of fish to cook with. The fish have a fantastic environment in which to thrive and grow, and this contact with nature ensures they are the very best.”

UK Director of Seafood from Norway, Hans Frode Kielland Asmyhr commented: “We are incredibly excited to have such a vibrant, charming and enthusiastic ambassador such as José Pizarro join us and we can’t wait to start working with him.

Having originated from Talaván, a beautiful village in Cáceres, Extremadura, José has lived in London for over 18 years and has brought his love of Spanish cooking to the masses with his mantra ‘tapas is for all’. José has earnt numerous accolades including World Food Awards Restaurant of the Year, Best Mediterranean Establishment at The Food Awards London, The Rosette Awards for Culinary Excellence, Food and Travel Magazine’s Best Newcomer of the Year and Best Restaurant of the Year.

Chef and restaurateur José Pizarro features regularly on BBC 1’s Saturday Kitchen, as well as top UK cooking shows such as Sunday Brunch, Weekend Kitchen with Waitrose, Rick Stein’s Christmas and The Food Networks’ The Big Eat.

José will create a series of Spanish inspired recipes using Norwegian seafood, which will be released to the media throughout the year.
