Our stoneware shows off Japanese cuisine to perfection

As Japanese culture inspired our decor in the eighties and nineties, so Japanese cuisine is inspiring our palates now. Britain has seen the popularity of Japanese cuisine sky-rocket in recent years!

According to the Oriental Food report by Wing Yip, consumer tastes are becoming ever more adventurous with 39% choosing to eat Thai food and 20% Japanese – now the UK’s third most popular Oriental cuisine. There are now more than 4,000 Chinese, Thai and Japanese restaurants in the UK – an 18% growth in the last five years!

One of the more fabulous establishments offering high-end Japanese cuisine in London, is the newly opened Nobu Shoreditch. Created by Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa, the iconic Nobu menu draws heavily on Matsuhisa's classic Japanese training as a sushi chef in Tokyo, as well as on South American influences gained during his extensive travels.

Heritage was delighted to supply carefully chosen pieces from our Strata stoneware range to the 240 seat Nobu Shoreditch restaurant. Featured in the headline image on their website beneath some exquisite food is our Patina plate!

The deep and moody, rich coloured glaze of our Patina stoneware lends itself well to the Japanese aesthetic, creating a striking backdrop for the beautifully presented food. Our Patina range includes platters and dishes with theatre at heart. For the full story click here.

We believe in staying open to everyone, but creating this content takes real resources. If you’ve ever found value here—whether it’s a recipe, an interview, or a laugh when you needed it most—consider giving just £3 to keep it going.

A little from you keeps this space free for all. Let’s keep lifting the industry, together.
