Trekkers Return to Nepal and raise £89,000 for The Springboard Charity

Thirty trekkers had the opportunity to both support the Manju Shree School and Lura Village community in Nepal, alongside Springboard’s work in the UK. The trek and community challenge was no easy feat, with five days of tough trekking following three days of hard labour at the school. Work on the school ensured it was restored after the 2015 earthquake, while the trekkers also produced a feast for the local community, along with a sports day.

Anne Pierce, CEO of Springboard, commented: “Returning to Nepal was a moving experience after the devastating earthquake in 2015. Helping to restore the Manju Shree School was rewarding, as we know it will benefit the community, and I know all the trekkers too found real value in the project. It was, once again, a challenge outside the norm for our compassionate trekkers, who came together to champion our industry and give back to others. The annual trek is a vital source of funding for Springboard’s work, and coupled with community work abroad, it makes a real impact on people’s lives abroad and in the UK.”

This was a once in a lifetime experience to the trekkers who have made a difference to people’s lives. The fund raising target is £135,000 and funds are still coming in.
