An Industry-wide shortage of chefs is one of the biggest challenges facing kitchens today, putting even more pressure on time-pressed teams.
As a result, finished base products such as stocks and jus – which offer chefs both consistency and cost control – are gaining acceptance and becoming more popular. At CHEF®, we believe this shift in the Industry is about making life easier for chefs, and giving them time back to be creative, even the midst of a talent shortage.
Our All Natural Stocks have been made just as chefs would make stocks in their own kitchens, with only natural ingredients. Created by chefs, for chefs, the range is extremely versatile. Available in Chicken, Veal and Shellfish variants, it can be used across a wide range of cuisines and dishes and means that chefs are able to cut out the time-consuming process of making stocks from scratch, without compromising on taste and the quality of their base.
CHEF® All Natural Stocks can help free-up time for chefs, enabling them to do more of what they love – spending more time developing ideas and refining their menu even further.
At a time of such a significant talent shortage, every extra minute is precious. Which is also why we’re a passionate supporter of the Nestlé Professional Toque d’Or® competition, which seeks to nurture the next generation of chefs and managers.
Once again, this year’s Toque d’Or saw student teams from across the UK battle it out to be crowned champions of what has become the leading catering competition.
At the Grand Finals, the teams were given the opportunity to work with some of the Industry’s top names including James Tanner, Simon Hulstone and Andrej Prokes. Challenges for this year’s competition included covering a lunch and dinner service at Bill’s Restaurants across London and taking part in a Nutrition masterclass with Footprint Media and writer and Nutritionist Amanda Ursell.
George Vezza, Managing Director of Nestlé Professional® said: “It’s fair to say that the 2016 competition has been one of the most poignant in its 28 year history. This year, with the skills shortage looming, we called on the Industry to unite in support of the competition, and we have been overwhelmed by the response – not only by the level of commitment that has been pledged, but also the passion that has been shown and the support that has been offered to the next generation.”
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at The Dorchester on Friday 24th June.
