Silverstone Chef Crowned Local Food Hero

Dean Hoddle, Head Chef at Silverstone Circuits Ltd., has been crowned ‘Weetabix Local Food Hero of the Year’ at the Carlsberg UK Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards which took place on 7 November at Royal & Derngate, Northampton.

Dean received his award from luminaries of the food and beverage industry including Thomasina Miers co-founder of the Wahaca chain of Mexican street food restaurants, restaurant critic and occasional MasterChef judge, William Sitwell, and renowned cookery writer and celebrity cook, Sophie Grigson.

Commenting on his win, Dean said: “I’m absolutely delighted to win this prestigious award. Since I joined the Silverstone team just over two years ago, I’ve made it a real priority to work with and to champion local artisan food producers and suppliers and my thanks goes to them for all their support to win this award is a real testament to the team in the kitchen at Silverstone as well as our highly valued local producers; I’m looking forward to continuing to work with them to champion the best local produce and creating exceptional dining experiences for our guests.”

Silverstone has partnered with some of Northamptonshire’s best artisan producers, using local, quality produce in much of the venue’s dishes. For example, Hamm Tun the award-winning cheesemaker has worked closely with the venue to produce a cheese exclusive to Silverstone Circuit; Friar’s farm makes bespoke chutneys for Silverstone and Happy Little Cake Company which provides a fantastic gluten-free offer for us.

Dean and his skilled team run all the catering for the venue’s The Silverstone Wing, which has 4520sqm of flexible event space, including four halls – with vehicle access in Hall 1 – and can accommodate meetings from 2 to 3,000 delegates. In addition, the venue has an International Media Centre; seven flexible meeting rooms; an Auditorium used by the F1 teams for press conferences; 40 Pit Garages; The British Racing Drivers’ club and The President’s Suite, which are all available to hire for meetings or events.
