Submission deadline for Zest Quest Asia 2019 extended

The deadline for submission of entries to Zest Quest Asia, the national student culinary competition that aims to promote skills and knowledge of Asian cuisine, has been extended to Monday, 5th November 2018.
By extending the deadline, the organisers want to give colleges and their students every opportunity to take part and reap the rewards of the highly anticipated competition founded by Cyrus and Pervin Todiwala five years ago in collaboration with the Master Chefs of Great Britain.

Cyrus said, ‘For those who enter Zest Quest Asia, competing is only the beginning. Zest Quest Asia is designed in such a way that fosters not only skills development in Asian cookery but the knowledge and understanding of increasingly popular cuisines. It challenges students to take account of sustainability and food waste as they go about planning and preparing their menus – two of the most critical food issues of our time.

‘The first prize of an all-expenses paid educational and cultural trip to a unique Asian capital will expose them to exciting new experiences, widening their horizons and appreciation of different cultures and customs. Other attractive prizes offer students the chance to visit producers and production facilities, and to attend master classes by experts in the sourcing, preparation and presentation of authentic Asian dishes. Indeed, Zest Quest Asia invites colleges and students to reap the rewards of their ambition, and hard-work.’

Companies that have pledged to support Zest Quest Asia 2019 include Hilton T5, Tilda, Koppert Cress, Regale Microwaves, Bidfood, Cobra Beer, Patriarche, Castelnau, Glengoyne, Robot Coupe and Meiko.
The revised deadline for entries is Monday, 5th November 2018, with the shortlist to be revealed in early December. Tickets for the Gala Dinner on Friday, 8th February 2019 at the Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 are available at £85pp or £750 for a table of ten. For more information, contact [email protected].
To submit expressions of interest and for details of how to enter Zest Quest Asia 2019, colleges should visit www.zestquestasia.com in the first instance. The finals cook-off will be held on Friday, 8th February 2019 in Mr Todiwala’s Kitchen, the signature restaurant of Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5.
