Great British Menu 2017 finalist Tommy Heaney has announced that he will be opening his first solo restaurant in the heart of Cardiff.
Tommy announced the new restaurant on Twitter on Tuesday, April 10, asking for members of the public to help choose a name. Whilst there is not a confirmed location yet, Tommy has said that it will be an informal, comfortable bar/restaurant with a fun and lively bar, serving snacks. He has also assured customers that there will be ‘no amuse bouche or other unnecessary fuss, as we aim to keep the prices attractive’.
Tommy was born in County Antrim and has trained under Michelin-starred chefs Richard Davies, David Everitt-Matthias and Ollie Dabbous. He has also worked in several top restaurants abroac, including two Michelin-starred Casa Marcial with chef Nacho Manzano. He is currently based at Leicester’s Restaurant at The Great House Hotel in Bridgend, South Wales. Last year, Tommy competed in the BBC’s Great British Menu, representing Northern Ireland. He beat fellow contestants Eddie Atwell and Joery Castel to finals week.
