Twice Michelin star chef Atul Kochhar adds more spice to the menu at Hawkyns

One of Buckinghamshire’s leading restaurants, Hawkyns at The Crown Inn, Amersham, unveils exciting new menu. Created under the expert supervision of twice-Michelin-starred chef Atul Kochhar, the menu is inspired by Kochhar’s passion for harmoniously intertwining British and Indian flavours.

A menu that celebrates both cultures under the same flag is at the heart of Hawkyns’ new offering. Diners can expect an array of colourful and delicately flavoured dishes. Madras spiced mackerel with mooli remoulade, fennel and apple to sea bass with bombay aloo and kachumber; charred lamb Shoulder with aromatic broth and autumn vegetable biryani with raita salad are just some of the tantalising new creations.

Hawkyns’ namesake Sir William Hawkins (also spelt as Hawkyns) commandeered the first East India Company ship to anchor in Surat India in 1608. Drawing upon this English-Indian history, Kochhar will be introducing a range of beautiful teas from The East India Company. From black, green and white tea to flowering and herbal infusions, guests will be spoilt for choice.

Atul Kochhar commented: “It’s incredibly important in the culinary industry to continually push boundaries and to strive to create new flavour combinations, which is exactly what we’re doing at Hawkyns. Together with the culinary team we’ve developed some fantastic new dishes that feature great spice combinations. Visitors can expect something special when they visit.”

Head chef Arbinder Dugal, has been tasked with bringing Kochhar’s vision to life in the kitchen and will be rolling out the new British menu with an Indian twist, alongside his experienced team.

Hawkyns restaurant is located at The Crown Inn, a former Elizabethan coaching inn steeped in history and heritage. Offering 45 stunningly appointed rooms, re-imagined by designer Ilse Crawford in 2009, the Inn is ideally positioned in the picturesque town of Amersham, which boasts architecture spanning more than five centuries. Amersham is easily accessible via the Metropolitan line (Zone 9) and Chiltern Railways.
