Vine Tree Primary School – Adopt a School with Ben Kaye

Today I visited my adopted school, Vine Tree Primary in Crewe, just in time for the first ever National Adopt a School week. I had a Year 4 class, with a total of 30 children.
Today the class looked at the 5 senses and focused on the 4 tastes; sweet, sour, salt and bitter.

Once we had looked at the basics of this we then tasted jelly. A green jelly, which the class assumed would be apple or lime, was scented with orange and tasted like vanilla, which the class all found very interesting. We then tried an orange jelly that was flavoured with mint.

The class really enjoyed it and started to understand there is more to the taste of something, not just the flavour they have in their mouth.
