Australia Reclaims World’s Best Steak Title as Australian Producers Take 27 Gold Medals at the 2026 World Steak Challenge

Australia has reclaimed the title of World’s Best Steak, following an outstanding performance at the 2026 World Steak Challenge in Amsterdam last week.

An Australian steak took the competition’s top prize, while Australian producers collectively secured 27 of the 128 gold medals awarded, meaning Australian beef accounted for more than one in five of all gold medals presented at this year’s competition.

The results highlight the breadth, consistency and quality of beef being produced across Australia, with Australian producers recognised across different cuts, production systems and categories.

Where to Try the World’s Best Steak in the UK

The overall competition winner was Senku Pure Wagyu Fillet from Paradigm Foods, which claimed a trio of accolades, being named World’s Best Steak, World’s Best Grain-Fed Fillet and Oceania’s Best Steak.

Senku Pure Wagyu is currently available to try in the UK at three London restaurants:

- CÉ LA VI, London
- Smith & Wollensky, London
- La Maison Ani, London

Australian producer Jack’s Creek (winner of the World’s Best Steak in 2023 and 2024) also took home the title of World’s Best Wagyu for the second year running, while Pardoo Wagyu Corporation was awarded the Large Producer Award.

The strength of Australia's performance across the wider competition is perhaps just as significant. Australian producers collected gold medals across the fillet, ribeye and sirloin categories, with entries spanning both grain-fed and grass-fed beef.

The results demonstrate the diversity of Australian beef production, with recognition going to a wide range of producers rather than a single brand.

Why Australian Wagyu stands out
Australian Wagyu combines authentic Japanese Wagyu genetics with the country's established expertise in cattle production and a range of feeding and finishing systems. This allows producers to develop beef with different levels of marbling and distinct eating characteristics, from highly marbled grain-fed Wagyu through to a broader range of Australian grass-fed and grain-fed beef.

Australia's diverse climate and extensive land resources mean Australian beef can offer a broad choice of flavour, texture and eating qualities.

The 2026 World Steak Challenge results showcase that diversity, with Australian beef recognised across breeds, cuts and production systems.
Supplying the UK with the Best of Australia

Following Australia’s success at the 2026 World Steak Challenge, interest in the country’s award-winning beef is growing among chefs, buyers and steak lovers.

The official World’s Best Steak, Senku Pure Wagyu from Paradigm Foods, is available to the UK foodservice market through Reach Food Group, a leading supplier to the foodservice sector.

More broadly, Australian beef is available through a wide network of UK foodservice suppliers and restaurants, with products spanning Wagyu, grass-fed and grain-fed beef from producers across Australia.

Emma Boughen, Business Development Manager – UK at Aussie Beef & Lamb, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to see Australian beef back at the top of the World Steak Challenge. Winning the overall World’s Best Steak title is a fantastic achievement for Paradigm Foods, but what is particularly exciting for us is the strength of Australia’s performance across the competition.

“It’s a great reflection of the depth and diversity of Australian beef production. From grass-fed to grain-fed and across different cuts, breeds and producers, Australian beef continues to demonstrate its quality on the world stage.

“We’re incredibly proud to see so many Australian producers recognised. Australia’s repeated success at the World Steak Challenge over the years and across a broad range of cuts, production systems and categories, is a strong reflection of the consistency of the quality being produced. For UK chefs, buyers and consumers, that means they can have confidence that when they choose Australian beef, they can expect the same high quality every time. We hope these results will encourage even more people to discover what Australian beef has to offer.”
